Indiana County Commissioners present State Senator Chris Garten the Commitment to Excellence Award

The Indiana County Commissioners (ICC) presented State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown) the Commitment to Excellence Award at the Indiana Statehouse.
State Sen. Garten was awarded this achievement for performing at an exemplary level while making notable contributions to advance local government leadership.
"As a strong advocate for collaborative and transparent government, I know the critical role our county commissioners play when issues that impact Hoosiers locally arise. County commissioners are vital to developing our communities and ensuring Indiana continues to be an economic leader in the nation,” says State Sen. Garten. "After working closely with the Indiana County Commissioners board on local government issues during the 2023 legislative session, I sincerely appreciate their recognition and look forward to working with them in the future."
State Sen. Garten, elected in 2018, represents Senate District 45, which includes Clark County and portions of Floyd County. He serves as the Chair of the Joint Rules Committee, Chair, a Ranking Member of the Rules and Legislative Procedure committee and Appropriations.
Prior to his name in office, State Sen. Garten was a former sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, completing two tours in Iraq.
Regarding personal accolades, State Sen. Garten is the Vice-President of the Scot County Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the Building & Development Association of Southern Indiana Board Member and a member of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club, continuing to commitment and excellence in his local community.
